Petrobras starts pre-salt test at promising Campos basin field
Brazilian player made the Poraque Alto discovery inside the Marlim Sul ring-fence
Petrobras has started production from pre-salt horizons in the Marlim Sul field in the Campos basin offshore Brazil.
The Brazilian oil giant initiated an extended well test at Marlim Sul at the Poraque Alto accumulation.
Preliminary data suggests the well, which was linked to the P-40 semi-submersible production platform, has potential to flow at rates of 15,000 barrels per day of oil, more than originally estimated.
Petrobras made the Poraque Alto discovery in mid-2017 inside the Marlim Sul ring-fence. The well was drilled in 1107 metres of water to a final depth of 4569 metres.
Poraque Alto was drilled by the Ocyan drillship Norbe IX and struck a good porosity carbonate reservoir.
