Science & Technology Conference in the margin of PVEP’s 10th Anniversary of Celebration

On May 25th, 2017 at the National Convention Center, Hanoi, PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) organized the "Technology Conference Celebrating PVEP's 10th Anniversary" (4/5/2007-4/5/2017).
Attending the Conference were Mr. Phan Ngoc Trung - member of the Board of Directors of PetroVietnam; Mr. Nguyen Quynh Lam - PVN Vice President. From PVEP were Mr. Nguyen Van Que - Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVEP; Mr. Ngo Huu Hai - CEO of PVEP and lãnh đạo, PVEP staff from various generations, international experts and partners. In attendance were also over 350 guests from over 40 domestic and international petroleum companies.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice President Nguyen Quynh Lam, Chairman of PVN ST Council recognized and expressed appreciation for the important ST achievements that PVEP had recorded in the past decade, many highly technical seminars and conferences have been held, and PVEP has been recipient of various domestic and international awards. 

Vice President Nguyen Quynh Lam stressed: The global petroleum sector and Vietnam's are currently facing the lowest oil prices for decades. In this context, each company, including PVN, PVEP must focus on ST R&D to help reduce costs and put forth solutions to cope with the times.

PVEP was established on May 4th, 2007 as a merger of 2 key petroleum companies Petroleum Investment and Development Company (PIDC) and PetroVietnam Exploration and Production Company (PVEP) pursuant to Decision No. 1311/QĐ-DKVN of the BoD of PetroVietnam. Over the past decade, PVEP has been a key pillar, an important player in the operations of PVN, directly involved in key activities including survey, exploration and production of oil and gas. 
Over the course of the past 10 years, beside the successes that has been recognized by the Party, State and PVN, PVEP has faced many challenges in ST such as assessment of the petroleum network, evaluating new potential partners, appraisal of reserves, drilling and completion of wells in hard conditions, well development and production in foundation rocks, marginal wells, heavy oil, deep offshore wells and also wells in severe weather conditions.

To overcome this, PVEP's staffs and engineers are always cognizant of the key importance petroleum ST R&D play in PVEP's sustainable development goal and in fulfilling its core mandate: safe and effective oil and gas exploration and survey; improving financial and ST capacities; helping to ensure national energy security, bringing benefits to the community and relevant parties. 
In the spirit of sharing solutions to reap common rewards, PVEP tổ chức “Technology Conference Celebrating PVEP's 10th Anniversary” to share information about its ST R&D and application in PVEP business operations. 
During the Conference, speakers gave 20 presentations ranging from exploration, reserve appraisal, drilling, production and management. The presentations were of high quality, and received much attention and generated much discussions throughout the event. PVEP always pay close attention to ST R&D on its way to becoming a leading regional, profesional, international petroleum company with global capacity. 
Over the course of 10 years, PVEP's portfolio currently include 74 projects, 26 of them international projects spanning 17 countries. During the 2007-2016 period, PVEP produced 364 MBOE, annual production reaching 5.13 MTOE, average daily production 102.000 BOE. For the 2016-2020 period, PVEP will take on 5 new domestic projects/contracts, on average 1 a year. As of 2020, the total petroleum portfolio for PVEP would be 46 projects.
PVEP's production during the 2017-2020 period is expected to be 43.93 MTOE, average daily production to 2020 roughly 94,000 BOE. PVEP strategic goal to 2025, with vision to 2035 is to become a strong petroleum company in the region.
