On June 28 in Hanoi, PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) held a ceremony to announce and present the decision appointing Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVEP.

Attending the ceremony on behalf of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) were Dr. Le Manh Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam; Mr. Le Ngoc Son, President & CEO of Petrovietnam; Mr. Tran Quang Dung Permanent Deputy Party Secretary of Party Committee of Petrovietnam, members of the Board of Directors;  along with PVEP's leadership and key officials.

Mr. Phan Anh Minh, Head of Human Resources Management of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, announced the personnel appointment decision.

Mr. Phan Anh Minh, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Organization Committee, and Head of Human Resources Management of the PetroVietnam, announced the personnel decisions at the ceremony. Specifically, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee approved Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao, former Vice President & CFO of PVEP, as Party Committee Secretary of PVEP for the 2020-2025 term. Additionally, the Board of Directors appointed Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao as Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVEP, with both decisions effective from July 1st, 2024.

Leaders of PVEP presented flowers in appreciation of the contributions made by Mr. Tran Quoc Viet, the former Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVEP. Over nearly 40 years, Dr.  Tran Quoc Viet has made significant and positive contributions to the development of both the corporation and Petrovietnam as a whole.

On behalf of the Party Committee and the leadership of Petrovietnam, Dr. Le Manh Hung, Secretary of party comittee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam, congratulated the PVEP leadership and staff for their unity and trust in selecting Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao for the roles of Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVEP.

Dr. Le Manh Hung assigned Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao and the PVEP team five key tasks: continuing the spirit of unity and achievements of predecessors, enhancing strategic management with a focus on restructuring and business model transformation, building a competent team aligned with the restructuring model, innovating management to meet strategic objectives and organizational needs, and preserving core values while promoting progress in revitalizing corporate culture to strengthen PVEP.

Dr. Le Manh Hung expressed confidence that with unity and solidarity, PVEP would continue to develop and contribute significantly to Petrovietnam and the nation's socio-economic growth.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao, the newly appointed Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVEP, expressed his gratitude to the leaders of Petrovietnam and PVEP team for their trust and confidence in assigning him this important role. He also thanked the generations of PVEP leaders and workers for their significant contributions to the development and establishment of PVEP's esteemed position and value today.

Facing a new phase of development with many challenges, Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao committed to focusing resources and collective intelligence to effectively implement the five key tasks assigned by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam. His goal is to strengthen PVEP and maintain its role as a core unit of the PetroVietnam.

On this occasion, Dr. Tran Quoc Viet and Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao signed the handover minutes for the positions of Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors.
