Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao was born in 1971 in Hanoi. He graduated in Business Accounting from the University of Commerce (now Thuongmai University) and later earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).

Throughout his tenure in the oil and gas industry, Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao has held several pivotal positions within the predecessor unit as well as at the PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) from its early stages: Deputy Director of PetroVietnam Investment Development Company - PIDC (2006-2007), Vice President of PVEP (2007), and Member of the PVEP Board of Directors (2007-2008).

From January 2009, he was mobilized and appointed by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) to serve as Deputy General Director and subsequently General Director of the PetroVietnam Finance Corporation (PVFC). When PVFC transformed into the PetroVietnam Public Joint Stock Commercial Bank (PVCombank), he continued to hold the position of General Director.

In November 2014, the leadership of PetroVietnam reassigned him back to PVEP, where he held the position of Member of the PVEP Board of Directors. Since October 2019, he has served as Vice President of PVEP.

With outstanding management capabilities and extensive practical experience in specialized fields, on July 1, 2024, Mr. Nguyen Thien Bao was entrusted by the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group with the position of PVEP Chairman of the Board of Directors. From January 1, 2025, he continues to be assigned with the crucial role of President & CEO of PVEP by the leadership of PetroVietnam.
