Initial medical attention revealed a deep and long wound with profuse bleeding which first aid will simply not suffice to ensure the safety of the wounded fisherman. Hoang Long requested permission from Chief of Song Doc Platform to move crewman Nghi onboard FPSO MV 19 to allow for better treatment and care.
As of 1:45 June 4, crewman Nghi's wound has been stitched (15 sutures) by doctors on board MV19 to stop the bleeding and has been given antibiotics, and pain reliever. Following the procedure, the crewman is lucid, in stable condition, with stopped bleeding and no abnormal behavior. Following consultation with doctors, the platform chief agreed to transfer the crewman back on the fishing vessel to return to shore for continued treatment as soon as possible.
This is the 4th time in the past 6 months, PVEP POC's staff operating on platforms at sea have helped provide medical attention to fishermen at sea, the most recent was the successful rescue of 8 capsized fishermen in February 2017 near Dai Hung well.
