On April 22nd, 2017 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized the "Top Trade Services Awards 2016" to recognize 103 outstanding companies and entrepreneurs. PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) was recognized in both the "Top Trade Services Company 2016" and "Top Trade Services Entrepreneur 2016" category. The individual recognition went to PVEP CEO Ngo Huu Hai. 

The petroleum sector has 5 companies and 2 entrepreneurs that were recognized at the ceremony. The petroleum sector partners that were recognized in the "Notable Trade Services Company 2016" category, including: Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company Ltd. (BSR), PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP), Vietnam Public Joint-stock Commercial Bank (PVcomBank), PVI PetroVietnam Insurance Corporation and PetroSetco Assets Management JSC (PSA).

Among the individuals recognized in the top 10 “Top Trade Services Entrepreneur 2016” were CEO of BSR Tran Ngoc Nguyen and CEO of PVEP Ngo Huu Hai.

The competition was started in October 2016, following Official Note No. 8335/VPCP -TCCV of the Government Office relaying the decision of Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh approving the hosting of the Award by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

This is the 7th "Vietnam Top Trade Services" Award, organized to encourage and recognize companies and entrepreneurs operating in 11 trade and services sectors that Vietnam had committed to opening up as part of its WTO accession in 2007, including Environmental, distribution, financial, construction, information, general, tourism, transportation, social healthcare, education and cultulral - entertainment services. 
After just 4 months, the Organizers have received over 400 nominations from over 30 People's Committees, municipal DOITs, trade associations... During its preliminary findings and assessment phase at the individual company level, the Organizers selected and recognized 10 entrepreneurs with the title “Top Trade Services Entrepreneur 2016”, 10 companies “Top Trade Services Company 2016”, and 83 companies “Notable Trade Services Company 2016”.
The award this time coincided with the 10th anniversary of Vietnam's accession to the WTO as its 150th member (2007-2017).
